This week we're going to be dedicating Monday's Salsa+ to 'On2', a slightly different cross body style of salsa in which the Lead steps backwards on Count 2 and forward on Count 6.
This style is massively popular amongst advanced salsa dancers, because the difference in timing gives rise to a completely different feeling and connection with the music.
Meant as an introduction to On2, this class will give you a better understanding of salsa instrumentation in general and broaden your experience of dancing salsa.
Disclaimer, we're not On2 specialists - if you're bitten by the On2 bug there are great classes locally in both Leeds and York, given by Salsa On2 specialists - and if you're interested to know more I'll point you in the right direction.
Running order for the night:
- 7pm Unstructured Hour - we have the space from 7pm, so feel free to get down early and use the time however you like. Just know we'll be playing great music and plenty of our advanced dancers are on hand to answer any questions you may have.
- 8pm Improver+ Class - a taught freestyle designed to bridge the gap between our improver and intermediate classes. We'll break down any tricky patterns we'll be covering later in the evening in a structured freestyle session.
- 9pm Intermediate Class - a tricky pattern at an intermediate level designed to stretch you and prepare you for our advanced classes. Don't worry if you don't quite nail this - it's meant to be tricky!
- 10pm Open Freestyle - wall to wall pure salsa music until they kick us out. Plenty of chance to practice what you've learnt or kick back and enjoy the social.
