Has anyone ever done any salsa abroad?

Posted by James on 26th August 2014

I went to munich on holiday last week and I went to an underground salsa club called Einstein Culture. I attended an international workshop (so the class was in english) and I learnt a sick routine. All the dancers there were really high quality. It had a very strong community feel and since it was Munich the beer was awesome. I fully recommend going, I even learnt a bit of chacha in the social dance afterwards.

So i was wondering if anyone has visited any good salsa clubs abroad? maybe some where I can try on my next holiday?

I didn't engage in any salsa when I went to Paris, but I was told by a friend that on the banks of the seine near notre dame there are always events. It's very big in Paris due to the Latin quarter and sizeable South American population

It's on my bucket list, James. I'm recently the new owner of a British passport, so I am definitely up for getting on a plane soon!

Where do I start - Paris, Nice, Cannes, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Granada, Ibiza, New York, Brisbane, and I'm sure I've quite a few others.... whenever you get chance you have to go and explore scenes all over.  The beauty of salsa is its a universal language :-)

They were all amazing for different reasons - but my absolute fave dancers i've ever danced with were all based in or around Amsterdam.

you know that feeling when you have THAT dance, and at the end you can't stop smiling and just feel amazing?? Well I would say I spent a whole weekend feeling like that! Not one mediocre dance - they were all up there!! :-) and the music was just my idea of salsa heaven

Did some salsa in Cuba once, woefully out of my depth :P

I've swung in more places, Sweden, Spain, Germany...everyone learns off YouTube these days anyway so it's all the same wherever you go.

Sounds like Holland it is then!  Carly is going to be happy :)  When do we do this thing?  The overnight ferry will be such a laugh.  Salsa on the seas...
