Firstly, can I say how impressed we all were by the standard of the competition. Every couple put something in their performance that impressed us.
All the judges used the Merengue Judging Criteria to arrive at their scores, so check those out to compare your dance against.
I can't speak for the other judges, but I'm definitely the Len of the panel - and proper Merengue technique got me excited - as well as creativity, connection with your partner and musicality.
Carla definitely looks for people displaying their own style and twist on a dance. Whereas Donna used a balanced approach to all the criteria to arrive at her scores. James is definitely the wild card of the panel, and he's looking for performance value and creativity above all else.
Here's the table so far, I'm sure that Cross Body Salsa is going to mix things up. If you've not performed yet, then there's still time to get to some Monday sessions at Smokestack, to brush up on your technique and performance value - this Monday I'll be focusing on style, musicality and performance value.
Can't believe there's only five points in it, between the top and bottom of the table!CoupleJakeCarlaJamesDonnaTotalBilly & Veronica878730Elliot & Amy877729Allison & Leonard779629Mel & John868729Kes & Siobhan868628Hannah & Vairis777728Yolanda & Gareth867728Jack & Rowena776727Inga & Dan668727Richard & Claudia768627Sophie & Dan777627Andrew & Karen776626Emma & Andy767626Jess & Will766625Amy & Jonathan676625Pan & Priyanka776525Lee & Kat776525
Nearly a decade ago, I resolved to run a salsa night the way I thought it should be run and the idea for StreetSalsa was born. The rest as they say is history..
I've made some of the best friends you could wish for through dancing, and want to share what a life-changing experience dance can be.
Do you agree? Which was your favourite Merengue performance?
