I’ve been thinking about the format and coverage of our events recently, and decided to make some changes that have an impact on each and every one of our events – so read on to find out more.
On reflection, I think we’ve been trying to do all things for all people, at all our events. And a greater focus is needed around the different needs of our members.
I’m sorry in advance if any of these changes affect your routine or attendance at classes. If you’re no longer getting the value from your membership as a result – just let me know and we’ll sort something out.
We’re launching a new weekly event soon – the raw and contemporary weekly salsa freestyle Leeds has been waiting for.
We’re staying tight lipped about the details at the moment, but for more information login to the website and check out the find events page…
For a taste of what’s in store, get down to HiFi at 10pm for the next few weeks as the Clandestina DJs go back-to-back with a sample of our exciting new sound.
With the new night launching soon, we just can’t physically run four events a week – I for one would crack up! So unfortunately, we’re cancelling the Friday nights with immediate effect.
I want to take the opportunity to apologise to our loyal Friday following, hopefully the new night will persuade you that the changes will be worth it in the long run.
We’re going to run one set of classes on Wednesday at HiFi – throwing everyone together – with the focus on fun and perfecting the fundamentals.
Now that’s not to say that there won’t be moves in the second class to challenge our experienced dancers, new teaching team Jake & Emma will make sure there’s something in there for everyone.
Check out the HiFi events for more details.
Allison and Lee are switching on to Mondays as the new teaching team, backed up by Dance Captain Carly. And we’re letting Lee ‘off the leash’, to really push the level.
Anyone is welcome to try the classes, but we’re going to keep the pace fast and the patterns tricky. I’ve realised that we must cater for our experienced dancers at least once a week and give them a challenge.
So please don’t be put off if you find the classes too difficult, just get over to HiFi and swot up on your fundamentals. The new Monday classes are meant to be tough.
For more information, check out the Smokestack events for more details.
I think that we need to change the focus of our nights to fit more closely around the needs of our different dancers. We have a whole range of different dancers, and hopefully there is something in there that will appeal to everyone.
What do you think of the changes? How will they affect you? Please let me know in the comments.
Nearly a decade ago, I resolved to run a salsa night the way I thought it should be run and the idea for StreetSalsa was born. The rest as they say is history..
I've made some of the best friends you could wish for through dancing, and want to share what a life-changing experience dance can be.
This sounds fantastic, can't wait to get started! X
Eeek very exciting xxx
Love everything here, and can't wait for Clandestina especially!
Are we still starting the social from 9:00 at Smokestack from now on?
This makes perfect sense, good idea Jake! Looking forward to this week :)
Yeah the 9:00pm social at Smokestack is here to stay, classes are 7:00pm Intermediate and then 8:00pm Advanced. I'll be at the front of the queue for Lee's classes, his patterns are really cool.
Looks good :) missed last week but will be there this Wednesday
Not sure where would I belonge? Inbetweener lol
Think you'll get something out of both Vicky!
