If I had to convince you that salsa music really is awesome, these are the tracks I'd play. There's something about each and every one of them that makes me go crazy.
It could be that party vibe, great for playing around with your musicality, or have some awesome vocals, each one has something to offer. It was excruciating sticking to just 40 songs!
As well as music playlists, our website has a wealth of different resources. We have a FREE step-by-step beginners course so you can learn salsa online, a range of other posts about music, and local classes if you're in the North of England.
No worries I've put the list together as a playlist on YouTube. You can also check out the full list below:
I started Salsa in early 2012 shortly after moving to Leeds from Brighton. I started learning at a small class in Huddersfield before joining in the fun at StreetSalsa a few months later.
I'm something of an old timer now, and you can find me doing pretty much any job that needs doing every Monday at Smokestack. I'm also part of the team at Leeds University Union's Salsa Society.
Great post this Rich, just wanted to let everyone know that you can sign in to Spotify with your Facebook account, so no need to signup or anything!
My favourite is Ave Maria Lola, or possibly He Tratado - but it changes all the time. What's your favourite people?
I've added part two in this series - non salsa tracks. Check it out here:
This may be worth a listen - some good cuban fusion tracks! https://play.spotify.com/album/11fEc2x7YkOZodSOWjLog1?play=true&utm_source=open.spotify.com&utm_medium=open
This is so useful I never know where to find Salsa songs...
I love Tito Puente - Ran Kan Kan
If I was writing this today, this one deserves a mention. Certainly a future classic:
There is a burrito and taco place we go to at least 3 days a week where they are always playing salsa music. It used to bug me and when we stopped to eat. My buddy recommended the place, I loved the food, but I didn't like the music, at least at first. After going numerous times I have gotten so used to it and now actually enjoy it! I'm glad I found this list! Trying to see which songs are my favorite. My buddy and I haul junk at work and some of the music keeps us in the groove!
