What amazing dances have you seen (in person or online/TV etc.) that have really inspired you. Street/Salsa/Swing/Contemporary... (gangnam style?!) anything!
This is one of my favourite favourite performances (if not, my all-time favourite).
Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollman at the 2012 US Open Swing Dance Championships
How awesome is that?!
I started Salsa in early 2012 shortly after moving to Leeds from Brighton. I started learning at a small class in Huddersfield before joining in the fun at StreetSalsa a few months later.
I'm something of an old timer now, and you can find me doing pretty much any job that needs doing every Monday at Smokestack. I'm also part of the team at Leeds University Union's Salsa Society.
Search youtube for nina and zerjon too late, that is my inspiration, I love it. Couldnt put a link on, couldnt figure it out x
Take it you mean this, Donna? Pretty badass!
As for the YouTube video, just paste in the link and it converts to show the video after you've submitted it :)
I love both those videos! Truly inspirational, but this one has to win out for me. It's worth keeping in mind that the two above are rehearsed performances, whereas this one is a freestyle dance:
I also love this one, which is Terry again - this time dancing with Amely, and also freestyle:
For me it has and always will be ballet, the strength yet grace of a ballerina cannot be beaten.
Can definitely see your point Emma! Ballet dancers do seem somewhat super human given how physically demanding the dance is, and with all that grace! Don't think I find it most inspiring though!
I can see you in a tutu Rich, even if you can't ;)
Oh God...are we drifting into forbidden territory here ;) haha
Haha think we are Sophie. That's a great video though Emma, I have massive amount of respect for ballet dancers. It takes a huge amount of training to do what they do!
hi guys!! I know I've been away a while! I'm back though!
Most moving and inspirational routine! Travis wall is one of my idols! X
That's blooming awesome Carla, what a song too! And what a way to finish a routine xx
One of my first salsa teachers when I moved to London as a salsa beginner was Leon Rose (well worth googling)... a couple of years ago he teamed up with a new dance partner Dotty and together they worked on a new concept of dance called Consla - a combination of salsa and contemporary... it really is beautiful.
You may have seen them on Got To Dance last year too - the were (in my opinion) robbed of a place in the final. Here are a couple of links showing what they do:
Yeah they were robbed! By those kids throwing each other around. Love their performance in the semi final, breathtaking.
Wow. I think I have 2 new dances that beat my favourite. These are amazing!
Nicky i do love the fusion between salsa and contemporary, it just seems to work so well! Would love to maybe play with some things and see what we could come up with sometime! :)
Omg, nicky/carla, this could be epic x
Another one to add to the mix from the wonderful Terry & Cecile, just the opening few bars inspired me to put together loads of new patterns at the end of 2014. Looking forward to cooking up even more great patterns at Smokestack next year!
Thought this dance from Strictly was pretty special too -
Blatantly stolen this from Jake's post in the socials group, but it just had to be shared.
Thought I'd add this one into the mix on this year's strictly. Amazing for such little training!
Some more West Coast Swing. Smooth. Also check out the follow taking control at several points.
